This time the location was Taplow's Reading Bound Fast Platform. The train involved was the 2020 Paddington - Great Malvern service. I was on the service that was following this train, the 2035 Paddington - Plymouth and according to the station manager at Slough, where we stayed for 20 minutes, the person in question dangled their legs over the edge of the platform and they were then dragged under the train.

Fortunately for me, our service as mentioned was able to go onto the slow lines straight after Slough, and we did so until just after Twyford. As we passed Taplow, there were eight members of the Ambulance team scouring the track from the platform, plus a further four on the track itself. The train involved was stopped further down the line, with no sign of the passengers being taken off. We got into Reading only 25 minutes late, which was reasonable, but then a combination of other problems, including a passenger being taken off the service at Taunton and subsequently arrested; we arrived into Exeter 50 minutes late.

With Regards,
Alex.B

Thanks, alexander b, for that post - even though it is sad news.

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.

Very sad.. It might explain why the my train last night (23.29 Paddington to Maidenhead) went through Slough on the London bound relief platform even though it was Reading bound. I thought it a bit strange at the time..
