From the Malay Mail (no, again: seriously! Roll Eyes ), an article is illustrated with a picture of an FGW▸ (First Great Western) 'quiet carriage':

William Huskisson MP▸ (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

Am I causing you nuisance if I recieve a text whilst my phone is on silent? Hardly.

Unless of course, you are able to intercept microwave signals.

I know they are illegal, but I am tempted at times to buy one of those mobile phone jammers. It would be great fun on an evening train out of Paddington   Grin

A couple of years back there was a spell of, mainly teenagers, going to their local comet/currys/etc with a pre-programmed "all-in-one" TV▸ (Thames Valley, or TeleVision, depending on context) remote control in their pocket. Never saw it myself, but apparently it was quite entertaining watching all the TVs changing channels and switching themselves on and off, with the staff dashing round like madmen wondering what was happening !
