The up Golden Hind (05:05 ex Penzance) failed just after leaving Truro.

The down sleeper was terminated at Par so the loco could be sent forward to Truro to drag the HST▸ (High Speed Train (Inter City class 43 125 units)) clear of the line.

0741 Penzance - Paddington also cancelled - broken windscreen.

Doesn't seem to be any road transport organised, people being told to catch local buses.

Sounds like a good day to stay in Cornwall!

good enough excuse to stay another day in cornwall. not often the loco from the sleeper is sent to rescue an hst it's normally the other way round!

William Huskisson MP▸ (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.
