I remember the Weymouth tramway well.

When I first started at Waterloo SW Division in a section called Rules and General we dealt with the traffic side of signalling and rules and regulations plus other assorted matters.

Two places had the most entries in the filing system.

Weymouth and Suningdale each involved cars!
 
Entries for each were:

Weymouth "train hit car." The grocles could never understand that even a Mark 1 coach swings out as far as the hatching on a curve.

Suningdale car hit gates. In those days they were swing gates across the wide straight A30 (no M3).

We could never prove the shunters at Weymouth had a sweep to see who could hit the most cars and get away with it.
