Hi All,

At only about 10 times more than the cost of the special thought this looks like a grand trip. Has anybody done the rail part?

The DC (Direct Current)-NYC leg of that rail journey is nothing too special. The train mostly seems to run either through continuous forest or shuffles its way through dangerous-looking neighbourhoods in Baltimore, Philly and Newark. Having said that you get the odd nice view of Chesapeake bay if you're sitting on the right-hand side of the train.

However that's only the last three/four hours of the journey, and I suspect that the New Orleans - DC trip is much more scenic!
