Next Saturday (17th April) - Steering groups meeting for the TransWilts Community Rail Partnership, 09:30, Melksham. At the 26th March meeting, around a dozen people agreed to put serious time into aims and objectives, constitution, press, kicking off projects and much more ... which needs a whole lot more in depth follow up by a smaller group than a public meeting.

If you couldn't make 26th but do have the time / skills / want to be very seriously and actively involved at the core - YES - would love to have you.   Please email me (graham@wellho.net).

P.S. Pickup available from Melksham station for arrivals from South.   Lift available from Chippenham for arrivals from north.  Over at lunchtime (but people won't be chucked out - I may be doing some forum stuff with other folks from here too, for example).

Thanks, grahame!

I will be attending the meeting - although, unfortunately, due to the current rubbish train connections, I'll be driving, rather than using the train to get to Melksham.  Roll Eyes

However, I'll be delighted to offer a lift to anyone wanting to attend the meeting, who can get a train to Chippenham, but who is put off by the lack of any onward connection to Melksham.

Please do contact me, by personal message or e-mail, if you are in this situation, and I'll be happy to collect you from Chippenham (and return you there, if required!).

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.

Thanks, Chris.    Here's the agenda and we WELCOME others who didn't come along on 26th March (or who, perhaps came along but didn't put their hands up straight away, preferrring to think about it a bit more) ... but please let me know if you're not on the original list but will be coming along.

TransWilts Community Rail Partnership.

Working group meeting - Agenda for Saturday, 17th April 2010

"Setting up the nuts and bolts and mapping the way forward"

Venue:   Well House Manor, Melksham
Directions: http://www.wellho.net/demo/gmap.php
Start time: 09:30
End time:  Around lunch time (people welcome to stay on)

We will meet the 09:18 train (arrival from Westbury) at Melksham.
Lifts available from Chippenham (thanks to Chris Hankin); please let me know if you need his details.

Overview - after the launch meeting at the end of last month, we need to set up structures and direction quickly, to establish communication channels internally and externally, and to fire off a handful of flagraising projects to nurture the partnership.

1. Introduction

2. Setting the scene

3. Who's who

4. Objectives and Statement of purpose

5. Constitution

6. Allocation of interim roles

7. "Quick Win" startups

8. Station groups and more general groups

9. Communications and networking

10. The Next Step

Prior to the meeting - contact myself (Graham Ellis) on 01225 708225 / email graham@wellho.net . After the meeting ... we should have allocated interim roles and be quickly able to publish updated and more diversified contact details as everyone takes on their roles.

This meeting invite goes out formally to all those who "signed up" to be on the steering group at the 26th March meeting, AND to others who wish to take an active role at the heart of the partnership.

Good meeting ... formal legal formation under way, station groups being formed, etc.   More details for follow elsewhere

For those working group members who read here ... our group communications are temporarily (?) set up via

http://atrebatia.info/

where there is also a public board area for updates and annoucements.   Main public facing site at

http://www.transwilts.org.uk/

Once working group members have accounts on the site, they'll be able to upload documents / host them on the site - that's something I'm testing with that smaller group, but may be able to provide here too for signed up members only.
