Plymouth is in the news with a "first" electric ferry, and approved for use:

Presumably still on trial as no route given.

Looking at the size of the boat the only likley use is off peak on the Mount Batten ferry.

I forgot the Royal William Yard ferry.

Whilst Norway is using electric car ferries to cross Fjords, and has done for a few years now, we're still experimenting with 12 seater passenger ones.
Would be great if all our SouthWest ferries went electric, but suspect that is years away as yet; mainly 'coz "ooooooz gonna pay for it" (with due deference to said member)  Wink

Still a forward step, though rather a small step in view of the small size of the vessel. Looks more like a pleasure craft that has been adapted and approved to carry fare paying passengers than a purpose designed ferry.
Still better electric powered than burning fossil fuel.

A proper intercity train has a minimum of 8 coaches, gangwayed throughout, with first at one end, and a full sized buffet car between first and standard.
It has space for cycles, surfboards,luggage etc.
A 5 car DMU (Diesel Multiple Unit) is not a proper inter-city train. The 5+5 and 9 car DMUs are almost as bad.
