gwinear road level crossing failure

i've just been trying to get along past gwinear road, and the road is currently closed due to level crossing failure? anyone know how long this is for, or the problems

Seems to be a regular occurance just lately, barriers keep failing in the down position, therefore stopping all road traffic

Inconvenient, but better that the fail-safe protects the line.

Been a pain there for a while now a far as trains are concerend with the speed restriction  incase there are any lorries trying to get into the farm entrance and blocking the crossing.

I wonder if its a Network Rail smokescreen to get the lorries to use another route

Hopefully this persistant problem with the barriers will get something done and the trains can get back to normal speed.

There again it could go on for a while whilst new barriers/parts are sourced, as I said it seems to be an ongoing problem with the barriers just lately.

i've also noticed some trains are blowing their horns as they approach and others aren't

There is nothing laid down as far as sounding the horn approaching Gwinear Road although some drivers may feel a bit happier doing this (noise abatememnt order pending no doubt from the local residents)

Coming from the Penzance direction there are ''W'' boards for trains but these are for Upper and Lower Trenowin (i think its spelt that way) crossings just before Gwinear Road.

There is a 10mph freight / 25mph temporary speed restriction in place for the level crossing because of issues with heavy traffiuc turning into the farm entrance just Carnell Green side of the crossing. Vehicles may foul the crossing or cause a tailback whilst turning.
