The initials normally stand for GREAT WESTERN MAIN LINE but for this thread it stands for GREAT WESTERN MADNESS LOOMS.

From the National Rail website ;-

Wednesday 26 December (Boxing Day)

No train services are running but an hourly bus service will operate between Reading and Heathrow Airport with every other service continuing to Gatwick Airport.

I doubt whether there will be many punters using this bus service and here is the crass management of FGW▸ (First Great Western) absolutely throwing money away running a bus service on a day when there are NO rail services to connect with, and that includes Cross Country and South West Trains as well as First Great Western, and when, no doubt, a day when the bus drivers will be demanding at least double time pay for their services on that day.

Would be interested to see the stats for the day when its passed to see how much loss FGW sustains on that day. Its stupid decisions that this that we all have to pay for in the inflated fares we are charged. I bet the bean counters havent cottoned on to this one yet.

Yes, so be it but if I were travelling from my home town in the west to LHR or LGW on the said date I would book through to the airport on National Express not to Reading station so as to travel to the airport on the service provided by FGW.

Did you know that nearly all bus routes in North Devon operate their normal Sunday Service on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day?
