BRITISH TRANSPORT POLICE APPEAL FOR INFORMATION AFTER PASSENGER ABUSES RAIL STAFF ^ WORCESTER / ASHCHURCH
British Transport Police (BTP) officers are appealing for the public^s help to identify a man they would like to speak to in connection with a public order incident.
Officers have today released a CCTV▸ image of the man they believe will have information which can assist the investigation into the incident.
PC Luke Davis, investigating officer, said: ^At around 6.40pm on Saturday 23 October 2010, a train guard at Worcester Foregate Street railway station had refused access to a number of youths with bicycles as there was a lack of room on the train for the bikes. A male passenger, who was not travelling with the youths, began swearing and shouting abuse at the train manager who backed away to avoid confrontation. The man also hurled abuse at other members of rail staff who intervened. The man then boarded the train ^ the service from Great Malvern to Weymouth - and continued to shout abuse at members of rail staff before alighting at Ashchurch railway, where he yelled yet more abuse at rail staff from the platform.
^Officers have obtained new CCTV images from Worcester Foregate station and would like to identify and speak to the man in this photograph as we believe he will have information which can assist us with our enquiries. I would ask anyone who recognises him to contact British Transport Police straight away.^
