Ok ill come clean - as some of you may know adderbury station was one of the stops on the line which I believe ran from banbury to cheltenham pre beeching times

I'm trying to track down a picture of this station but so far Google and eBay have let me down. My son is getting a train set for Xmas and I would love to build him a station along the lines of the one in the village where I grew up.

To this day I can still remember the sound of steam trains going through adderbury and sadly still have recollections of them ripping the track up.

There are some details on the Oxford Mail website: see http://www.oxfordmail.co.uk/news/community/memorylane/5043045.Minor_rural_railway_had_a_grand_name/  Wink

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.

There is a book with the history of all lines around Banbury....I think it's available from the booking office at Marylebone as well as other reputable railway book sellers. Can't remember its title or publisher though....sorry. Although the title is obviously about the lines around Banbury
