From the Easier Property press release:

Quote
Interior design TV (Thames Valley, or TeleVision, depending on context) personality Linda Barker brought added style to Barratt^s Melksham development as she visited The Gateway recently.

Guests were inspired by interior design tips from expert Linda and had the opportunity to learn more about what Barratt has to offer at The Gateway during the open day which was held in conjunction with Leekes in Melksham.

Linda said how impressed she was with the development ^ particularly the design of the homes and the location. ^The interiors are also great and the homes provide practical living,^ said Linda.

Barratt sales director said: ^Linda was the perfect guest to have for our interior design day. She^s so down to earth and guests thoroughly enjoyed chatting to her and took advantage of being able to quiz her about design and steal some tips.^

The Gateway offers something for everyone, with an exciting selection of one, two, three, four and five bedroom homes.

Current availability at The Gateway includes the three bedroom Maidstone design, priced from ^179,995; the four bedroom Radleigh and Alderney houses, starting from ^249,995; and the spacious five bedroom detached Malvern house, from ^314,995.

^Whether buyers are moving up the property ladder or seeking to enter the market for the very first time, there is a wonderfully stylish home to suit them,^ said Andrea. ^Our day with Linda was the perfect way for people to see what we have on offer here ^ and how you can personalise your new Barratt home with tips from the experts.^

The Gateway presents buyers with the best of both worlds ^ a quiet, relaxing setting just a short distance away from excellent local amenities and nearby towns and cities. Melksham is well served by good roads and is just 12 miles south of the M4 motorway. The local train station provides links to Bristol. And there are also nearby rail links to Bath, Cardiff, and London.

Cough, splutter.  Roll Eyes

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.

I recall the houses at Foundry Close - in the background in this picture:

being sold on the basis of being "close to the station" ... without refrerence to the rarity of trains.

Perhaps I should pop down to the sales office tomorrow and invite them to the update on Friday.  In all seriiousness, they might like to sponsor something which would raise the value of their product.

It's ironic to read "good roads" too  ... which ones are they thinking about?

blue = fine; orange = delay prone; red = severely delay prone.

I *did* pop into the sales office on Thursday and extended an invite through the sole team member present for someone from Barratt's to come along the following morning to Trowbridge and be part of the process to actually getting the decent links from the local station to many places including Bristol.   She told me that the information in the article was off the Barratt's web site and she was fully aware it was wrong, and that she had pointed it out to the folks who look after the site ....

When I suggested that an improved local train service would add value to the properties / development, she didn't agree - which makes me rather curious as to why the service was actually claimed on the web site in the first place.  However, I see that the site now says The nearest train station is in Trowbridge which provides links to Bath, Bristol Temple Meads, Cardiff Central and London Paddington.
