Just downloaded the supplemental timetable from the
FGW▸ website -
http://www.firstgreatwestern.co.uk/Documents/Custom/SEPT%202011%20TT/TT35%20FROM%20SEPT%202011.pdf - which gives details of services between Plymouth and Penzance from 18th September to the commencement of the 'Winter' timetable. The Sunday section in the old timetable from May didn't contain timings for beyond September, presumably because engineering alterations weren't finalised.
What do we find? Well, the first Sunday section only covers six weekends from 18th September to 23rd October. You'd think it might be pretty accurate given the wait for it to appear?
No.
The first two weekends are fine - no alterations that I can spot. Though, after that there are three consectutive weekends where there is a block between Par and Truro. Replacement buses, extended journey times, revised timings etc. The last weekend there's an even bigger block from Plymouth to Par and Liskeard to Looe, not only affecting Sunday but also the Saturday, Monday and Tuesday. The latter does at least get a mention in the booklet in the small print I suppose.
But, I ask the question. What is the point in printing a special timetable supplement if 4 out of the 6 weekends it applies to are totally altered by engineering work?
