John O'Groat Journal THE man killed after being struck by a train on the outskirts of Thurso was a 33-year-old from Bristol.
He died instantly after being run over by a train on the outskirts of Thurso on Friday afternoon.
A spokesman for British Transport Police said that due to the non-suspicious circumstances surrounding the death, it would not be releasing his name.
^There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of the man who was struck by the train and a full report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal,^ he said.
The incident took place on the sweeping bend before Thurso station. After the impact, the two-carriage Inverness-bound Sprinter ground to a halt about 100 metres down the line.
The line was closed for four hours after the tragedy.
