Not a rant, purely for future reference.

Last Week I needed to get from Bath Spa - Parson Street in the evening at very short notice. (Friend got into a bit of a domestic and needed some TLC (three letter code, or tender loving care, depending on context )).

I purchased a ticket to Parson Street without even thinking about the connection at BRI» (Bristol Temple Meads - next trains) as I only had about 5 minutes to get to the train. Foolishly, me thinking that as it was Bristol, there would be a connection... WRONG! Angry

So by the time I arrived at BRI the Gateline was wide open and the ticket office was shut. So a little out of pocket I resorted to the Bus which took me almost right outside Parson Street Station (The Bristol Flyer A1 Service). To be fair, I used my Bus Pass so wasn't out of pocket in the sense I had to pay a bus fare on top of a train ticket to a station I couldn't get to till the AM.

But under such circumstances, If I took the ticket to the station the following morning, would I be elidgable for the difference to be refunded or would I have had the generic "Tough s**t you should've checked/planned your travel a bit better" (As above, wasn't an option here).

In this case we're talking about a few pence so not too fussed. But purely for future reference as it's not the first time i've done that and won't be the last... Roll Eyes

I'd imagine that unless you'd asked for time of the trains and been given wrong information then it would be your fault.  The clerk isn't obliged to make sure there is a train available (and wouldn't know by memory in the case of most of the obscure destinations), although I'm sure if they did realise they'd tell you.
