British Transport Police appeal for information after member of rail staff assaulted ^ Lostwithiel

British Transport Police (BTP▸ (British Transport Police)) officers investigating an incident which took place at Lostwithiel Railway Station are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Officers have today released a CCTV▸ (Closed Circuit Tele-Vision) image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident which took place on Wednesday, 5 December 2012.

PC Steve Campbell, investigating officer, said: ^Following a ticket dispute on First Great Western^s 1916hrs Penzance - Plymouth service, a male passenger is alleged to have assaulted a member of staff on board the train. The incident happened as the train arrived at Lostwithiel railway station at around 8.25pm.

^Enquiries are ongoing to identify the man responsible and I am now issuing a CCTV image and appealing for anyone who can identify the man in this photograph as I believe he will have key information which can assist the investigation. I would also like anyone who witnessed the incident on the train to come forward.^

Anyone with information which they believe can assist is asked to contact British Transport Police on Freefone 0800 40 50 40, or the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. In all calls please quote incident reference B7/WWA of 03/01/2013.

William Huskisson MP▸ (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.

That is an unusually very clear image. Surely someone should be able to identify him if it is circulated widely enough.

That really does look like a photo rather than CCTV▸ (Closed Circuit Tele-Vision). I'm not aware of CCTV cameras in the middle of vestibules at head height in Class 150s. For that angle (unless it has a zoom function) the camera would have to be in the aisle.

It is indeed an unusually clear CCTV▸ (Closed Circuit Tele-Vision) image - and it's also been published in This Is Cornwall and ITV News West.  That should get a result.  Wink Cheesy Grin
