MP▸ picked out the colourful design by Courthouse Junior School pupil Anna Macdonald, nine, as the winning entry for her annual Christmas card competition for youngsters in the area.
The Home Secretary joined Maidenhead and Twyford station manager David Pinder, of sponsors First Great Western (
FGW▸ ), in choosing the work from dozens of entries on Friday. The theme was 'things I like about Christmas'.
The pair were left thrilled with the quality of the designs from all those who entered, but agreed Anna's drawing captured the magic of Christmas.
Mrs May said: "It's lovely and it's colourful. It's got lots of things about Christmas in it, with the snowman and the tree and the present."
David added: "It's just really clear how much hard work has gone into it and a lot of care and attention."
Anna's design will now be printed and sent out to hundreds of the Home Secretary's private and professional contacts, including Prime Minister David Cameron.
Creations by Frankie Wilding, nine, of 8th Maidenhead Brownies, Courthouse Junior School pupil Maisie Cochrane, 10, and Sophie Brazil, eight, and Anna Brazil, 10, both of Furze Platt Junior School, were named as runners-up. Their designs will be printed on the back of the cards.
Winner Anna will receive four return tickets on the FGW network as part of her prize, along with meal tickets at Stafferton Lodge in Braywick Road.
Mrs May said: "There's been another great range of entries and some fantastic work. I think this year there's a lot of work that's gone into all of the cards."
