Appeal for witnesses after partially sighted passenger assaulted ^ Swansea/Neath
 
British Transport Police (BTP^▸ (British Transport Police)) is appealing for information after a partially sighted passenger was assaulted on board a train between Swansea and Neath.

Officers want to hear from any witnesses to the incident, which occurred around 11pm on Friday, 25 October, on a Swansea to Cardiff Central Arriva Trains Wales service.

One man has been arrested in connection with the incident, but officers are appealing for anyone who was on the train at the time to come forward.

Investigating officer PC Yvonne Brown said: ^The victim, a 38-year-old man from Bridgend, was in the front carriage of the train when he was assaulted by another man. As a result of the attack, the victim ^ who is registered blind - suffered bruising and swelling to the side of his head. He was taken to hospital for further assessment before later being discharged. This was a serious incident and we^re eager to speak to anyone who was on board the 2232hrs Swansea to Cardiff Central service.

^We are particularly keen to speak to a woman who we believe may have witnessed the assault. If this was you, I would urge you to contact police as soon as possible so we can get a full account of what you saw. The train was extremely busy on this particular Friday evening, meaning there were a number of passengers who may have seen or heard something which could prove vital to our investigation.^

A 23-year-old man from Port Talbot has been arrested on suspicion of assault. He has been interviewed and released on police bail, pending further enquiries, until Friday, 20 December.
