Trying to remember which TOC▸ (Train Operating Company) tried to run Basingstoke to GEML▸ (Great Eastern Main Line) it crossed my mind just how many TOCs have there been both current and dead?  I haven't a clue but thinking about it most have changed at least once and there around 20 plus franchises then 50 or so!

It provides an Interesting answer to the Wolmar question;

What are franchises for?

To distribute government subsidies around the bus and foreign rail companies.

Anglia Railways were the TOC▸ (Train Operating Company) you are talking of.

William Huskisson MP▸ (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.
