It looks like most of the Virgin network is grinding to a halt.

North of Preston is suspended.

@VirginTrains: UPDATE: We are advising all customers not to attempt to travel. Customers already on services will be taken to the nearest station.

@VirginTrains: All services out of London Euston are suspended until further notice due to adverse weather. #UKStorm

Crewe station and Manchester airport station closed due to damage/safety issues.

Pretty straight to the point. No spin and mincing of words there. Services now running between Euston and Birmingham only on WCML (West Coast Main Line).

According to NeR some felt was blown off the roof of Crewe station onto the Overheads and then caught fire.

Scotrail 'sleepers' were delayed
