Thank you Graham. You and your fellow site administrators have done a very good job in providing this unique forum dedicated to the GreaterWestern Rail franchise. I have learnt a lot from the forum over the past few years of the peculiarities  of the rail system that help to explain why certain things run in the way the do and I suspect that many rail staff (TOC (Train Operating Company) & NR» (Network Rail - home page)) may have appreciated some of the work but perhaps not welcomed the throwing of light onto some of the absurdities. Long may you thrive.

I've given up and registered as a new user but if it's possible to get my original 'noddingdonkey' back that'd be great!

I'm sorry you've had such a problem.   I'll resolve this so that you can use the old account later this evening.

I have sent you an email to the new address giving you a password ...

I previously reset at 22:17 on 14th June and emailed you; not sure why that failed.

I have closed this second account too - we're pretty strict on multiple identities because of past problems

Thanks, Chris ... doing this from an intermittent connection and a series of train changes.  I'm surprised there was only one mistake!

So was I - that's quite good, for you!  Wink Grin

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

With the server change last June, there was a major change in the underlying operating system, program language and database versions (and by "major" I mean huge).  And a couple non-critical but non-wanted effects crept in.

Thanks to a suggestion from bobm, I've been able to improve an issue with avatars, which have been cut down to postage stamp size when uploaded recently.    Fresh uploads will now resize to a maximum of 153 x 153 pixels, rather than the 65 x 65 that has been used for the past 9 months or so. There remains an issue with images hosted on your own server, which may display distorted if they're not of the correct size / aspect ratio.

It seems that the old server was just letting anything through due to the lack of image resizing software in the background; the new server has that software so a latent configuration error was exposed when we upgraded.

Yay. Thanks grahame and bobm for whatever was done to give us back larger avatars. I've celebrated by bringing back IKB (Isambard Kingdom Brunel).
