A date for your diary if you're a user group / CRP (Community Rail Partnership) / Rail Industry / Local Government representative.    Taunton - late morning to early afternoon ... usually a few of the forum folks there with various hats on.

TravelWatch Southwest^s General Meeting provides an unrivalled opportunity to debate public transport issues in the South West of England and is regularly attended by senior directors of bus and train operating companies, representatives of the strategic transport authorities, local enterprise partnerships and public transport users groups.

An impressive list of speakers from has been arranged to discuss the vital issues affecting the future of public transport in the region as delegates consider,   ^The Future role for Public Transport in the South West's Economy and Growth".  We are delighted that Claire Perry, MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) has ^confirmed^ as a keynote speaker for the meeting. The day promises to be highly informative with further presentations from:  Andy Cooper (CrossCountry); Chris Loder (Southwest Trains) Mike Watson (Stagecoach South West) and Stephen Joseph OBE (Campaign for Better Transport).

I'm now posting full details of the next meeting, and offering a final call for anyone with an interest in public transport issues in the South West who would like to join us, as my guest(s):

TRAVELWATCH SOUTHWEST GENERAL MEETING ^ SATURDAY 7 March 2015

I am pleased to invite you to the next general meeting of TravelWatch SouthWest to be held on Saturday 7 March 2015 from 1030hrs (for 1100hrs) to 1500hrs at the Conference Centre at the Somerset College of Arts and Technology (SCAT), Wellington Road, Taunton TA1 5AX.

The day promises to be highly informative with further presentations from: Andy Cooper (CrossCountry); Chris Loder (Southwest Trains) Mike Watson (Stagecoach South West) and Stephen Joseph OBE (Campaign for Better Transport).

If any of our members on the Coffee Shop forum would like to join us at the meeting, please do reply here, or contact me by PM, as soon as possible.  I do have some guest places available.

Thanks, Chris from Nailsea.

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.
