The Cross Vale bus service which links Pewsey and surrounding areas, and Devizes at the other end of the Vale of Pewsey with villages in the Vale is significantly revised from 17th August, with very much the type of services requested by the communities after a great deal of analysis and thought.  Plan is to save ^70,000 a year of subsidy on a service that's cost ^346,000 per annum to support for 55,000 passenger journeys.

TIMETABLES PUBLISHED TODAY!
You can pick up the full timetable for all three piloted areas for the Connect 2 Cross Vale bus services from:
Devizes at the Museum in Long Street, the Library and at Wiltshire Council Office in Snuff Street.
Pewsey at the Library, the Heritage Centre and Apple Cart Cafe. Or through the post by ringing 01380 860100 or emailing connect2@wiltshire.gov.uk

PLEASE BE AWARE: The service is a pilot. The times might change slightly at the end of an introductory period, but the new pattern of service will remain the same. Please sign up for notifications on this page to keep up to date.
Separate timetables for 100/101 area with rail link, and 102/103 areas with evening services, are in preparation. These will show connections to other bus and rail services.

Aims are to provide a useful service which is simpler to understand and meets more passenger flows than previously, and the timetable (I don't have a copy yet to confirm though) connects with trains at Pewsey and has direct service from there to Devizes without the need to change in the Vale.

I was looking yesterday to tell people from Pewsey how to get to a meeting in Devizes for 10 a.m. on Saturday 19th September, and journey planner suggested x5 to Swindon and 49 from there to Devizes ... shows how much the old system has holes in it; new timetables don't appear to be with Travelline either (in spite of 6 weeks notice rules)

Here's wishing the new service well (and happy to help shout about it too!) once timetables are online.
