I've just been down to Thatcham ticket office and purchased...

1 x Weekly travel card - which starts Monday 19th
3 x day returns from Harrow-on-the-hill to Aylesbury for mon,tue and wed.

This lot came to about ^172 so many thanks for your help guys - the tip about buying returns from HOH to Aylesbury nailed it for me - if I need to travel to Aylesbury of Thursday or Friday I just need to buy additional returns.

I'm impressed that, yet again, our Coffee Shop forum members have been able to work their way through the veritable maze that is the railway ticketing system in the UK▸ (United Kingdom), and have been able to suggest such a (legitimate!) cheap solution. Shocked

To all of our readers: if you have any such questions about routing or fares, please do ask us here. You only have to provide details of your dates and times of intended travel, and our 'panel of experts' will clearly do their best to provide you with a solution. Cheesy

I like to think I know a bit about the railway system in the UK▸ (United Kingdom) but finding ticket prices for some "unusual" journeys evades me.

I can't even find out how to find the cost of a weekly travel card from my local station on-line! Ok, I know what the cost of that is but I was using that as an example.

Whilst composing this reply I came across the link below that gives some examples but it isn't comprehensive enough.

There's a season ticket calculator on (most?) TOCs▸ (Train Operating Company) website, usually under tickets
