GWR▸ is the headline sponsor for the 2016 Bristol Food Connections Festival which got underway yesterday.
Over the nine days there will a series of banquets, cooking demos, debates and community events as well as the
BBC» Food & Farming Awards.
At the launch GWR took the opportunity to highlight the West Country produce that is served on its Pullman trains and in its buffets
One of the guest speakers was Brixham-based Mitch Tonks, who has been consultant for
FGW▸ /GWR's on board restaurants for a number of years and has helped to resource over 130 products on the trains which come from within 50 miles of the area the railway serves. I didn't know Cornwall produced tea or Gloucestershire porridge but apparently they do and the supply contracts have created extra jobs.
GWR has also announced it is to be involved with six other food events
