Some notices and signs that have made me smile in the last few days

Everyone's getting in on this Castle fashion!

Wow - that's a tight headway!

Livestock may arrive at the station but will NOT be allowed on the train

Why isn't this notice displayed at every station?

I hope no-one's been waiting

But WHICH Christmas?

I don't think it's a secret any more!

I have oft wondered where "The North" is

It's a new idea - you provide people to help work out your ticket!

Is the “no porters” sign at Southampton Central? I think they possibly get a lot of people there heading for cruise ships with rather more than usual amounts of luggage...

North at the bottom of diagrams is something I usually think of as a London Underground style thing. Their vertical strip maps at stations just seem odd to me - I think we all understand the concept of north at the top from nearly every map we use, it isn’t difficult...

Yes, it is - in the ship / sea side of the station, entrance hall. And it does make senses there.

I found it interesting that you go through Great Malvern to get to "The North" ... and if you turn the map around I think you find that that line vis Exeter branches off to the right when geographically it should turn off to the left.

Obviously it has to be mentally turned, but to be horizontal, if it is to point to places at all. But not as if on a table, since then "Bath Spa" is at the far end, which is wrong. Obviously it has to be turned to be flat against the ceiling, and then I think you'll find it makes sense. That is obvious, isn't it? I guess navigating by the stars must be usual in Bath, for some reason...

All the stars live in Bath. When I lived there, Van Morrison owned a house only two streets away. Or so it was rumoured...
