Claire Perry, MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) for Devizes in Wiltshire, has today announced that she will be standing down as an MP at the next General Election. She joins an ever growing list of current Tory MPs who have decided not to stand again.

Boris may be confident that he can win the election, that now seems likely to be held in November, but he will have many constituencies where the Tory candidate is unknown to the local electorate. That could see even relatively safe Tory seats, such as Devizes, falling to other parties.

Quite.

Whilst we don't usually talk politics on this forum, it appears to have escaped the notice of the World King and his henchman that an awfully large number of Tories voted remain in the 2016 referendum (Michael Fallon was on the radio this morning estimating that there were about 4 miilion of them).

I struggle to see what the conservative party currently offers to remain voters, and even soft brexiteers. There will be interesting times ahead...
