This forum clearly has inspirational power. I've decided to take a look at the Stourbridge PPM▸ myself and also break the travel at Droitwich Spa for a little nose around there. If I split my journey Temple Meads to Worcester Shrub Hill, then Shrub Hill to Stourbridge Town, it's just over 15 quid (with my card) using cheap day returns. Add the Redland to Temple Meads bit for less than two quid and that's still under 17 pounds of your earth money for a day out.
My work is done!
Anybody know much about Droitwich?
Actually I know Droitwich very well - there's plenty there to keep you entertained for upwards of half an hour. Probably the best bit is High Street, which is about ten minutes' walk from the station; lots of teetering timber-framed houses rendered wonky by brine extraction. Saunter back via the Vines Park for a bit of canalside interest, and perhaps drop in at the Gardeners Arms on Vines Lane if a swift half floats your boat.
Or there's the Town Trail, if you prefer:
