Sitting in a non refurb buffet on the 1821 off PAD» (Paddington (London) - next trains) and the suspension is bouncing up and down so much I'm getting sea sick!

I cant remember them being this springy but then maybe I have forgotten as I havent been in a non refurb car for ages

Noticed the same on a Bristol-Paddington journey. Bounced so damn much that I wore my drink!

Bogies are changed every 2 or so years and won't necessarily have been done during refurb.

The Buffet Car is Heavier than the other Passenger Carriages so will Ride differently, Expect the Water Tank was close to Empty this will cause extra BOUNCE!

Nope unless you where on a 3 car HST▸ (High Speed Train (Inter City class 43 125 units)) there were 6/7 other carriages, 4/5 of them would have been SC but you could have sat there.

mookiemoo as btlines says we all know you travel in first class all i can say is i also travel first class but travel for free as i work for them,but i do not keep telling everyone.

anyway back on topic

it will probably be the wheel sets are reaching the end of their life so the ride is not as would be expected,when refresh is done the wheelsets are not changed as that is a different heavy maintainance programme done on mileage/years unless it suffers excess tread damage in between and needs more tyre turning.also buffet is much heavier with the extra water tank and equipment fitted to it.

Maybe I need to learn smilies more (most are tongue in cheek)

Although to be fair, it would have to be more like a blackpool rollercoaster for it to make any sense to move!

If you think that the Buffet Cars don't ride very well, then I hope you Never sample a carriage thats starts to "Hunt".

I've only known it once, between Bedford and Bletchley with MKI stock behind a class 45*.

Only 1 carriage started to "Hunt" which is due to Resonance Frequencies and the whole carriage was bouncing to such an extent that it was Impossible to stand.

Once train speed reduced and the "Hunting" stopped every body moved into other carriages.

* Nottingham to London St Pancras service diverted to Euston due to Engineering Works, NOT a Bl**dy bus that you would get today!
