Pulham's are introducing a new subsidised service via Shipston-on-Stour and Stretton-on-Fosse, the latter previously only having a limited community bus service, on 1st September. Some journeys have decent London connections, but by no means all.

It doesn't seem to have been publicised much, other than a pdf on Pulham's website - can anyone say who is subsidising it - a developer perhaps?

It's still more than a week until it starts so I suspect publicity is limited so far to stop people tuning up for a bus that's not yet running.   We have a number of north Cotswold members who may be able to provide the subsidising answer ... give it 48 hours though, as it will only be a small proportion of our members with the local knowledge.

I'm not sure that local knowledge will have anything to do with it.

As far as I am aware the only subsidised bus servics we have are contracts with the relevant local authority. So it would be the local authority who specficies the level of service and makes the subsidy.

Pulhams could of course run a commercial service along the route if they thought potential loadings were sufficient to warrant one.

Warwickshire County Council has announced a new bus service in the south of the county to link Stratford Upon Avon with Moreton in Marsh starting on 1st September 2020.

The service, operated by Bourton-on-the-Water-based Pulhams Coaches, is timed to link up with key train services between Moreton in Marsh and London and will also call at Preston on Stour, Alderminster, Newbold on Stour, Tredington, Ilmington, Shipston on Stour including the new housing developments on Campden Rd, Stretton on Fosse, Todenham and Great Wolford.

Cllr Jeff Clarke, Portfolio Holder for Transport and Planning at Warwickshire County Council said:

We want all communities in Warwickshire to have excellent transport and infrastructure so we are really pleased that residents living between Stratford-upon-Avon and Moreton in Marsh will have greatly improved connectivity with the new bus service.

The bus service will also improve connectivity to London which is a fantastic step forward for many of the more rural areas in Warwickshire.”
