Stumbled over the following that was released yesterday by DfT» (Department for Transport - about)

includes a link

that has a link to the full list of structures that they look after. Also a list of assessment reports, which suggest their main interest is in 24 - 44t capacity, not what is generally needed for a country foot/cycle path.

Article from New Civil Engineer based on a Government sponsored report produced by Sustrans suggesting that many of the threatened bridges of the Historical Railway Estate might have a useful future.
