Wheels are in motion to make Bath more cycle friendly. Last week it was announced that Bristol was to be the country's first "cycling city" and now Bath is keen to follow hot on its heels and promote pedal power. On Friday, at the end of National Bike Week, the Bath Cycling Summit was held at the Guildhall.
The mini-conference was organised by the Bath Cycling Campaign with Bath and North East Somerset Council so that different organisations could get together and discuss ways to encourage more people to get on their bikes.
Ideas included creating new cycle routes across the city centre and from park-and-ride car parks, promoting cycling to tourists as a means of getting around the city and encouraging employers to provide facilities for people to cycle to work.
