We had the train to ourselves and couldn't do a return trip. Just me, Finn and three staff from Beachlands to Eastoke. They saw Finn and I and decided to shut early!

Real reason was the weather. There's a gradient on the line that the loco was struggling with. Damp rails and the sander wasn't working. At one point I thought the staff and I would be getting out and pushing!

It was the gravel used for ballast that suggested it and it was somewhere you could travel to by train (&bus) today.

This photograph was taken the last time I was on Hayling Island
