Hourly rail service to return to Cheshire community that 'kicked up a fuss'

TfW^▸ (Transport for Wales) has confirmed the hourly service between Chester and Liverpool via Frodsham will return this year

Frodsham has a population of around 10,000 and also had an hourly service each way from Manchester into North Wales
Melksham has a population of around 25,000 has only has one route, running just every 2 hours.

Frodsham had 3% of its trains cancelled over the past 12 weeks
Melksham had 8% of its trains cancelled over the past 12 weeks

Weaver Vale MP^▸ (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) Mike Amesbury said: “Transport for Wales is now saying its hourly train service between Chester and Liverpool via Helsby and Frodsham will be reinstated in December after all – having previously said that was no longer possible.

“It’s only happening because passengers, North Cheshire Rail Users Group and I kicked up a fuss. In fact, I raised people’s frustrations with chief executive James Price at a meeting in parliament over the summer.

“I do hope on this occasion it does come to pass given the number of false dawns.

“In addition, I’m still receiving complaints about the reliability of the service in terms of delays and cancellations. I will continue to hold the train operator’s feet to the fire to ensure the best outcome for my constituents.”
