Today, my daughter booked some rail tickets on line, then went to her local station to collect them from the station machine.

Result:
West Malling to Warminster and back  =  2 tickets + 5 blank (?) seat resevations
Warminster to Ryde (IoW) and back (2 persons/3 split tickets) = 12 tickets + 12 blank (?) seat reservations
...............and of course a collection receipt !

32 bits of paper !!  Good job she didn't have to pay for all that paper - that would have negated the split ticketing savings.

PS: She still has to email Hovertravel to book seats on the hovercraft.... Roll Eyes

Not once have I made a reservation with Hovertravel when travelling on a through ticket including rail. Never been unfortunate to turn up at the terminal and find my chosen flight full.

12 blank (?) seat reservations

The whole system is a shambles. I saw the opposite today. Passengers with seat reservations on a Cross Country Nottingham Cardiff service arguing with passengers sat in the seats they had reservations for. No reservation lablels on the train (Class 170 so no electronic system).
