Outgoing Network Rail Chief Executive Mark Carne had a power car named after him in a short ceremony at London Paddington yesterday evening.

Power car 43013 now carries his name.  It forms part of Network Rail's New Measurement Train which tours the country checking lines for faults.

This is well deserved, he is well respected within NR» (Network Rail - home page).  Mark Carne is a people person, he has made workforce safety a key issue in his tenure not only NR employees but NR contractors as well, another key item has been the "digital railway" this is all about collecting data about the condition of assets so that maintenance can be better targeted the NMT has reduce the number of staff that need to go into the four foot to inspect and measure thereby reducing risk to staff

Mark Carne CBE is a Scottish businessman who served as executive vice-president for Shell in the Middle East and North Africa and was chief executive of Network Rail.  Born: 25 February 1959 (age 66 years), Helensburgh

And there is a different person with a similar name who members may have heard of:
Quote
Mark Joseph Carney (born March 16, 1965) is a Canadian politician and economist who is the 24th and current prime minister of Canada since 2025. Previous offices: Governor of the Bank of England (2013–2020)
