Cancellations to services between Taunton and Castle Cary

Due to a person hit by a train between Taunton and Castle Cary all lines are blocked.

Train services running through these stations may be cancelled or delayed. An estimate for the resumption of normal services will be provided as soon as the problem has been fully assessed.

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

Incident reportedly at Broomhay User Worked Crossing (with telephone) in Bathpool near Taunton. So whilst there is mention of the line to Castle Cary being blocked it would also be the case that the line to Bristol is blocked as this location is before Cogload Junction.

The crossing is on an unadopted unsurfaced lane providing access to farm land. It may also be a public footpath.

The train involved is a Bristol to Taunton local service.
