15:38 27/09/2009 HST (High Speed Train (Inter City class 43 125 units)) stopped by my house. Appears to be on Down Main just short Taplow station.

Am investigating.

Update 16:05. Still there HST (High Speed Train (Inter City class 43 125 units)) set on Up Main no sign of any movement around train i.e. driver  or TM (Train Manager, or Ticket Machine, or Temple Meads (Bristol), depending on context). Must be train failure as next auto UM21B? is green.

Good news trains running on other three lines.

On FGW (First Great Western) website now:

Line problem between Reading and London Paddington.

Train services between Reading and London Paddington are being disrupted due to a broken down train.Engineers are working as fast as possible to restore services to normal. Short notice alterations and delays can be expected.

16:46 just rolled back wrong line to I presumme Taplow station to detrain?

Didn't know that there were still any railwaymen who know how to issue wrong line orders.

Two unsolicited brake applications and then no further because the brakes would not come off. Eventually managed to release the brakes from the Bristol end cab and return to Maidenhead to detrain passengers.

Not uncommon, we've had  an HST (High Speed Train (Inter City class 43 125 units)) stranded at Filton due to this not that long ago, one for Sprog for more technical info?
