From Stroud Life:

Quote
A teenager ended up in court after she became angry when she heard an announcement that her train was late. The 16-year-old screamed abuse on platform two at Stroud railway station and was arrested by plain-clothed British Transport police.

The Stroud girl pleaded guilty to unacceptable behaviour on the railway when she appeared at Gloucester youth court. During the court hearing she apologised for what had happened ^ and admitted she was simply "showing off" in front of a friend.

The police had tried to calm her down, but after she continued to mouth off, she was handcuffed and taken to the station.

Prosecuting solicitor Peter Ashby said: "Officers on the platform saw the defendant and another girl coming down the stairs on May 4. There was an announcement that a train was late and the defendant started swearing and shouting and left the station. She returned to the station later and continued shouting and was arrested. She agreed that her language was offensive and said that she was sorry for what she did."

The 16-year-old said in court: "It was a stupid thing to do ^ I was showing off in front of my friend."

Defending solicitor Mohammed Iqbal said: "She has matured considerably since previous offending in 2008 and was doing really well on a community order. She really has calmed down and she assures me that this is the last time she will be in court."

A Youth Offending Service spokeswoman added: "She successfully completed a 12-month supervision order and did really well."

Telling the teenager that she had been going "downhill rapidly" but had now taken control of her life, youth magistrates gave her a six-month conditional discharge.
