From thisisthewestcountry.co.uk:

Quote
Bridgwater train station could get 17 new security cameras if plans for a new CCTV (Closed Circuit Tele-Vision) system get the go-ahead.
First Great Western is seeking planning permission for work at the Grade two listed building, which has been in the town for nearly 170 years.
In plans submitted to Sedgemoor District Council, First Great Western says it is committed to ^enhance customer security and the quality of train running information to customers^.
It plans to replace all existing cameras with 17 new ones, introduce 22 PA (Public Address (broadcast loudspeaker announcements) or Passenger Assist (railway staff providing physical assistance to passengers with mobility issues), depending on context) speakers and install a new departure board and two next train indicators at the station.
A spokesman for First Great Western said: ^Our customers are at the forefront of everything we do and the work, which is part of a larger project to improve a number of stations across our network, is designed to maximise their comfort. Help-points at Bridgwater have already been installed and we hope to have customer information screens in operation at the station by the end of September, with CCTV introduced by the end of the year. Customers can use the help-points to speak direct to a member of staff, which gives added reassurance to them. The improvements will help us to keep our customers travelling from the station better informed about their journeys and people will feel even safer while travelling with us."

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.

Long wait for the new departure board and CCTV (Closed Circuit Tele-Vision) cameras. At least the help points have been installed I suppose.
