Ok, I have 3 questions regarding ticket restrictions.

What are the restrictions on the following:

First Class Anytime Day Single with Disabled Railcard - Chalkwell - Salisbury @ ^51.80

I'm particularly interested in the routing of this ticket, in particular, is it valid out of Paddington via Westbury to Salisbury? I have the intention of using this ticket to get back to Westbury and not continue onto Salisbury if that route is valid (If not i'll simply buy a SDS to WSB» (Westbury - next trains)), Unless anyone would be kind enough to suggest a cheaper option.

Also

First Class Off Peak Period Return - Southampton Central - London Victoria @ ^27.70 (Inc Railcard discount) - Are there any evening peak restrictions on the outward or return?

Much Thanks Grin

Your routeing question:

Using the Routeing Point(s) Identifier ('pink pages'), Chalwell's routeing points are Barking, Romford Group and Southend Group. For journeys to Salisbury all those points require route: LONDON. So to determine whether your ticket is valid via Westbury we need to look at the routeing permissions from LONDON to Salisbury.

Using the Routeing Guide Permitted Route Identifier ('yellow pages') for LONDON to Salisbury gives us Map LE only. This only allows journeys from Waterloo or Victoria (change at Clapham Junction) to Salisbury. So the answer is no, you cannot travel out of Paddington via Westbury unless you pay an off route excess.

Your SOU-VIC FSR (First Scot Rail) validity:

Valid on any train scheduled
to depart at or after 0930.

MORNING TRAVEL
Travel is also allowed on the
following departures from the
stations listed:
.
.
Southampton Central       0910
.
.

Now the evening restrictions are a bit weird. No restrictions out of Southampton or Victoria, but the full list of barred trains out of Paddington. Quite how you can travel out of Paddington on a 'SOUTHERN ONLY' ticket is beyond me!!!

Would you be best off buying a ticket from Chalkwell to Warminster? Use it to Westbury on the outward journey, and from Salisbury on the return.

I assume you realise the Southampton - Victoria fare is routed 'SN only' of course, it isn't clear from the original question or answer...

Sorry, My question wasn't that clear... My insomnia got the better of me lol Roll Eyes

I am aware you can't use a SN only ticket out of Paddington...! I regularly make that journey from Southampton - London Victoria with Southern. My question was completely seperate from the Chalkwell - Salisbury question. I just wanted to know if Southern impose a evening peak restriction on Off Peak tickets out of Victoria or Southampton on that ticket...! Which you have answered Grin

Sorry for the confusion, when I type it makes sense in my head, but not always to the reader (I'm Autistic) Lips sealed

With regards to the Chalkwell - Salisbury ticket. I was curious if that was valid via Westbury, because it looks like i'll be making that journey a few times at short notice, so booking in Advance is not an option. Although as an aside I was impressed that you can book SWT (South West Trains) tickets to London Waterloo via Salisbury at 23:00 the day before travel! Grin Shocked ^12.55 it cost me for a 1st ADV single Grin

Is there a cheaper option from Chalkwell - to any of the following: Frome, Westbury or Bath Spa? Rather than what i've found at ^51.80 for an FOS then SDS to Frome?!

Much Thanks Grin

Yup - try Standard class!

(I'm pretty sure you meant cheaper 1st class option though?)
