Just a quick one.
Was on a very long journey today (not first toc) which was delayed heavily, and am curious as to if...
a) I can claim delay repay on a priv ticket
b) Am I going to get told off for claiming.
c) Is it the done thing.

Put it in, worst they can do is say no.

I've put one in with ScotRail for the delay on the Sleeper so will let you know if I get anything back.

2.5 hour delay, standing on a freezing cold platform. But to be honest everybody was in the same boat and the staff were doing their best with the information they had.

You should be treated the same as any other pax▸ (passengers).

Claimed a few years ago from GNER▸ (Great North Eastern Railways) and got the ticket cost back.

Of course it's always open to abuse if Guards wave you through as soon as they see a staff pass, but no doubt your details will be on record if you kept doing it, so i'm sure the odd claim from a genuine delay wouldn't be frowned upon.

If you go to the ATOC» (Association of Train Operating Companies see - here) website the conditions of use are there for both current TOC▸ (Train Operating Company) staff travel and Safeguraded / retired staff.

I am sure you can, I have as a retired travel holder claimed a refund.

(yes life is complex I have retired BR▸ (British Rail(ways)) staff travel yet buy a full price session ticket and work for a railway company Huh )

With respect, would it be safe to assume you and the "generation" you mention are fortunate to have "boxes", so wouldn't necessarily have to ever buy a PRIV ?
