Absolutely nothing wrong with it at all, ellendune!  Shocked

I was merely offering an observation that some parents / guardians might have reservations about allowing their offspring access to a bank account with a debit card - even though there is no legal prohibition on that, as was suggested in a previous post.  Roll Eyes

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.

Aah yes, I remember getting a Solo card when I was sixteen. It was briefly very exciting until I realized that almost no-one accepted it at the time so it was only ever any use as a card for withdrawing cash from holes in the wall!

That statement regarding not being able to go overdrawn on an account if you're under 18 isn't strictly true! Shocked

I once had a Lloyds TSB account which had a full Visa Debit Card (Not Visa Connect or Visa Electron), which did let you go overdrawn! I know this because I opened the account purely for being able to buy my own train tickets, instead of having to pay cash! I booked a train ticket online using the card, I then had the unfortunate privilage of receiving a letter about 5 days later telling me I had gone overdrawn by ^7.80! Fortunately, as I was under 18, No Interest or Charges were payable!

As an aside, Try paying a ^110 Train Fare onboard a train with ^5 notes and watch the horrified look on the TM (Train Manager, or Ticket Machine, or Temple Meads (Bristol), depending on context)'s face!!! Grin

Well it goes to show the averege IQ of criminals these days, I had reason to go to Barnt Green a few weeks back and the TVM (Ticket Vending Machine) has a big notice on it saying "PAY BY CARD ONLY".
