Quick question for a report / review I'm writing ... can anyone estimate the number of cycles / cycle journeys / any other cycle stats for FGW (First Great Western) stations.   I'm trying to get an order of magnitude of journeys on (perhaps) a typical weekday that might involve arrival by train info (e.g.) BRI» (Bristol Temple Meads - next trains) then onward cycle, be it with a cycle stored at the station or accompanying the passenger on the train.   And I AM inteterested in folding cycles too - not purely luggage van capacities, etc.

Bristol picture ....

Also interested in Cycle numbers, etc, at Oxford, Paddington and Wiltshire stations;  really short of numeric data and finding it hard to estimate, so please post any thoughts that could be remotely linked. Thanks!

Paddington .... how many?

The National Passenger Survey captures information on access mode. I don't think it is included in the main published reports, which focus on passenger satisfaction, but there is an online portal for getting hold of data and PF (Penalty Fare) can help you. The sample size can be fairly small for many stations, but worth investigating. Worth making contact I suggest.

That's a good idea, thanks, and I have registered for the online portal; initial data from it isn't answering the question(s) I have, but I'm just starting to explore it.   Does anyone know of any parallel avenues that might provide this sort of information already extracted from raw data flows?
