Meanwhile, over at The Independent, it appears that DB» (Deutsche Bahn - German State Railway - about) are returning to the UK▸ (United Kingdom) sometime in the future to help with Northern Powerhouse Rail, and bringing some of their nice ICE3s with them - I hope they don't get stuck in the tunnels or under the bridges - see - https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews/what-you-need-to-know-about-northern-powerhouse-rail-plans/ar-AA1Kv6fn?ocid=msedgntp&pc=U531&cvid=b3a5c89b91654ea5b980523d90235016&ei=85

To illustrate a story concerning an ECML▸ (East Coast Main Line) broken rail the BBC» (British Broadcasting Corporation - home page) journalist concerned apparently thought an image of a Class 897 would be appropriate. These machines are not scheduled for entry into public service until 2027.

From Time Out

Quote

Watford has been feeling the impact of cuts to its bus services in recent years. Now, a group of locals say that the Hertfordshire town’s transport system needs expanding, and have started a petition asking the council to commit to reopening a long-disused train station.

Watford West was last used as a railway station in 1996, nearly 30 years ago. It continued as a bus stop until 2003, when it was shut completely. In the subsequent decades it became rusty and overgrown, then was cleared in preparation for the ultimately doomed Croxley Link.

That's well south of 'Annoying'. The first is A.I. fantasy, how is one meant to learn about the world from this sort of imagery - the landscape isn't feasable, never mind the train and rail line. The second... for obvious reasons there's many Tarbets in Scotland and top marks to the itinerary for that side-excursion to the wrong one. Oh, and that isn't Harris.

Latest I have is that the hotel on the top of Snaefell is defunct ... I suspect the start and end points are Ronaldsway

Not Ronaldsway - that's between Douglas & Castletown, nearer the latter

The American version of Tarbert is Jackson

Quote
Jackson, Louisiana, is a historic town in East Feliciana Parish with a population of 3,707 as of the 2020 census, located within the Baton Rouge metropolitan area. Known for the Centenary State Historic Site and proximity to Port Hudson State Historic Site, it offers a quiet, rural atmosphere.

Car on train tracks sparks major disruption in Cornwall - updates

Passengers are warned of long delays this morning

Train passengers are warned of hours of delays in Cornwall due to a car on a railway line this morning (Friday, July 3).

The 'illustration' for their news item specific to the St Ives Branch line is, almost inevitably, that stock picture of an IET▸ (Intercity Express Train - replacement for HSTs (manufactured by Hitachi in Kobe, Japan)) at Bristol Temple Meads.  Roll Eyes

William Huskisson MP▸ (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

How about this one?
https://www.hellorayo.co.uk/hits-radio/cornwall/news/train-services-in-cornwall-suspended-after-car-falls-onto-tracks-near-carbis-bay

The houses in the background look like Bristol, but that's not Temple Meads, is it - too curved? And the roof looks wrong.

That is definitely a picture taken at Bristol Temple Meads.  The houses in the distance are the rather famously differently coloured terraced properties on Bellevue Terrace and Richmond Street.  Gosh, how I used to enjoy delivering groceries in those narrow streets up there!  Roll Eyes

From an advert by Secret London.  Anyone care to guess the places being advertised before they look?
