ASLEF^» (Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen - about)(train drivers union) have called for industrial action from its FGW^▸ (First Great Western) members, which is about 80ish% of FGW drivers(i think). This is due to drivers from another company covering work for FGW at Old Oak Common depot. This will probably also mean the withdrawal of rest day work(overtime) from the drivers, making it virtually impossible for FGW to run all their trains. Watch this space.

This simply isn't  true. For ASLEF to agree for rest day working at one company (First GBRf) to cover that companys extra work ( the moving of empty coaching stock from Old Oak Common to Paddington) and then to ballot it members at another company (First
Great Western) for industrial action because that company is allowing another company (First GBRf) to move sets from Old Oak to Paddington is absolutely insane. Wait a minute it is ASLEF were talking about here!

ASLEF^» (Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen - about) are only out for themselves and they don't care who else they shaft in gettin what they want! Down in Cornwall the mjority of West drivers have left ASLEF to join RMT^▸ (National Union of Rail, Maritime & Transport Workers) (who still aint great but they have some morals).

What isn't true? The bit about ASLEF^» (Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen - about) calling for action? Or that FGW^▸ (First Great Western) moves are being covered by another company? I read about this on another well known rail forum, and was passing on the info.Perhaps you can enlighten me 12hours, as i think you post on the other forum too, and probably know more about it than me!

The statement reguarding industrial action being taken for the movement of trains by another company is not true. In fact this is only being done I gather as a last resort! 

However it has been stated around the Bristol and Paddington depots that ASLEF^» (Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen - about) will be ballotting their members (for which I am not one of) due to the breakdown of Driver Harmonisation (of the three former companys) talks. A referemdum recently rejected the offer on the table. Also there has been talk of a manager driving a train which has upset the hiearchy of this so called union!

Try not to listen to what is being said on other forums until after getting some clarification from the people directly involved!
