Part of the A14 was closed while crews dealt with the blazeA fire engine has burst into flames on a major road in Suffolk. The
RAF▸ appliance burst into flames next to the eastbound A14, near Claydon, about 12:30 BST.
Crews from Needham Market, Stowmarket and Ipswich were called to deal with the blaze. Part of the road was closed while emergency services tackled the incident, which lead to long tailbacks. Firefighters left the scene at about 15:30 BST.
A fire service spokesman said: "This vehicle was an RAF fire engine and not one of the Suffolk Fire & Rescue Service fleet. Two fire engines carried out a water shuttle to and from the incident as no fire hydrants were available on the side of the A14."
