You know how it goes.. Certain trains are running slightly out of sync time wise.. The commuters know that platforms are going to change.. The announcement will be last minute, way after we all worked it out.. etc etc..

So, that got me to thinking.. I call it "Musical platforms".. This morning we had the fun swapping over of platform  4 to 2 and 2 to 4 at the same time at Maidenhead.. However when we got to platform 2 the train we had got there for still wasn't showing (although it did go from that platform in the end). Meanwhile a fellow commuter commented that we'd not had a "double shuffle" for quite a while..(i.e musical platforms but twice in one go)

So.. during all this extra pre commuting fun.. I began to wonder if there are any other ways people out there refer to this moving around of large amounts of people at short notice?  Grin Roll Eyes

Jo it has ever been thus. Several times I've been in East Croydon Box (long gone) when the Vicotria and London Bridge trains swapped platforms.

Chaos you had two lots of passengers trying to pass through a narrow subway and a smaller footbridge than today.
