It appears that an issue has cropped up with FGW (First Great Western) tickets.

Newbury and Reading tickets are not having railcard discounts applied to them and it has been reported that some season tickets have had a 100% increase (wrongly).

"A database amendment is taking place for September fares to break up the existing Newbury 'cluster' in the FARES system - this is because this 'cluster' is very large (stretching from Theale all the way to Bedwyn) and causes complications with the way that LTV (London [and] Thames Valley) fares are constructed.

"In order to avoid the current fares to/from Newbury 'cluster' falling out of retail systems for dates on/after September fares 'go live' (when these records are 'end dated' in the FARES system) a whole series of 'Non-derivable' fares have been uploaded to cover the gap until the new September fares take effect.  Unfortunately a number of errors appear to have crept into these - notably missing 16-25 Railcard prices and no discounts (other than Child) on the CDS (Off Peak Day Single [ticket type] (formerly 'Cheap Day')) ticket type."

Dear All,

With regard to the on-going fares issues affecting journeys from/to stations Theale to Bedwyn inclusive, please note that provided that your TIS (Ticket Issuing System, or Traction Interlock Switch, depending on context) receives nightly downloads we expect all fares to be correct by Monday 30th June 2014.

In the interim please check fare values against the attached Temporary NFM (National Fares Manual).
