It happened at Wool on the Lulworth side of the crossing

A coach has crashed at a level crossing in Dorset causing "considerable delays" for motorists, police have warned.

It happened at Wool on the Lulworth side of the crossing at about 16:15 BST.

Dorset Police said no injuries had been reported and Network Rail had been informed.

Officers urged motorists to avoid the area as traffic was backing up from the level crossing to Monkey World and Bovington.

William Huskisson MP▸ (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.

As a matter of interest does Network Rail claim delay minute compensation from the coach firm in cases like this?

An eye witness report I've read said the coach was rocking like a seesaw suggesting it had bottomed out and got stuck. Is it a humped level crossing out of interest?

It's pretty flat to be honest. Could be the witness saw the coach rocking on it's suspension if the driver had to slam on the brakes?

Quite possibly the suspension.

I was thinking it may have grounded as there are a couple of level crossings round here that are humped which has seen trucks scraping on a few times.
